Last year's Girl Scout Encampment included a Tea Party with Her Royal Highness, the Queen of Hearts for the littlest campers (those 5-7 years old) and it was a regal success! I had so much fun, in costume of course, that when we were presented with the theme of this year's encampment ("Shipwrecked") we knew that a Pirate Tea Party was in order!
And this year, Gerry decided he wanted to play a part as well. So we donned our finest pirate costumes and braved the sea of 62 small girls! Gerry did his best Cap'n Jack Sparrow imitation (he's got that Johnny Depp run completely mastered!) as we indoctrinated our new "crew" - showing them how to toss back shots (of root beer!) and giving them the secret pirate map along with a wee compass to buried treasure (to be found in the Port of Sammamish). Along with our two helper pirates, we fielded a few questions from the audience (What's the cap'n's favorite color? Black. Is it fun to drive the ship? You bet!) before sending the new recruits along their merry way.
After 17 hours of cooking for the 300+ group we were back at home in Redmond getting things ready for Sunday's Pancake Breakfast at church. We had reserved Sunday afternoon for our marathon packing session to getting ready for our cruise but devoted a better portion of the time to napping instead.
Can't wait until Wednesday early morning (we leave home just after 4:30 AM!) and Chris and the cat will be on their own until we return. Be sure to check the blog as I hope to be doing some cruise posting here (and hopefully I'll be able to include the occasional photo as well!)
Next stop: Fort Lauderdale (in April - whoo hoo!)
